825 non-residential spaces have received use permits in 2010, according to the Stastics Board. To compare, in the last five years an average of 2700 non-residential spaces have received construction permits annually.
As such, it can be claimed that many permits remain on paper and never reach the construction stage.
In 2010, the number of non-residential spaces that were granted use permits was 14% smaller than the number for 2009.
An even larger decrease, 45% year-on-year, was observed in the floor area of non-residential spaces that were granted use permits. Therefore it can be claimed that the non-residential spaces granted use permits in 2010 had significantly smaller floor areas than the year before.
